WHAT DO ALL THESE EXPRESSIONS MEAN??
ASIANIMATION : This term is very close to the one of “Japanimation” but has a larger meaning since it applies to Asia in general. It concerns the anime influenced by manga as well as video games and some aspects of the Asian culture at the same time.
COSPLAY : This expression is the mix of the two words Costume Playing or kosupure in Japanese. It describes an activity which consists in playing the role of a character, real or not, most of the times issued from manga, cartoons or video games. But it can also refer to heroes of films, of French or Belgian comics as well as music artists.
This activity consists in wearing the costume of a character and to perform a show by pantomiming him/her as good as possible. With costumes from high quality and crazy choreographies, these fans have the occasion to play the role of a famous hero.
These cosplayers are present during shows or festivals and even during parties, specially organized for Cosplay competitions!
Generally speaking, Cosplay is organized as part as a competition during which they are presenting to the public an amazing show!
EIGAMATEUR : This expression stems from the mix of the words Eiga and Amateur. It consists in a competition between home film-makers who are creating short films. These films can be tragic as well as funny but have to respect a determined topic.
The participants are assessed by a jury of professionals on the quality of the sound and picture montage, on the originality of the scenario and on the performance of the actors.
MANGA : Manga is the word given to Japanese cartoons as well as Korean cartoons, called manhwa. Nowadays, more and more Asian countries want to have their own style of cartoons influenced by mangas. Among them, China begins to create Chinese mangas.
The Asian comic has a very different writing and drawing style from the American, French or Belgian comics.
Nowadays, the manga expansion reveals itself as a major culture that had set up in our generation since the childhood. Manga is no more considered as a simple comic: it has become an increasing trend.
J-MUSIC : J-music is the abbreviation of Japanese-music. In the termination “J-music”, the ancestral Japanese music is not taken into consideration. It only refers to rock or pop music.
